This Dating Site Called Freckles "Imperfections," and People Are Not Having It

When I was a little kid, I used to hate my freckles. I hated that they would pop up uncontrollably whenever I went outside, no matter how much sunscreen I used, but mostly, I hated that they made me look different than the other kids in my class. Now that I'm a grown-up, I actually love my freckles and try not to hide them with makeup—but apparently, not everyone agrees with my love for my spots.

The Guardian reports that Match.com has released an ad in the London Underground that features a woman with red hair, hazel eyes, and a face full of freckles, with the text, "If you don't like your imperfections, someone else will." The ad is part of their campaign surrounding #LoveYourImperfections, which ostensibly aims at getting people to feel good about themselves. But that is not how it went over with the London public. Here's how they reacted

The U.K.'s Advertising Standards Authority has received around "half a dozen" complaints about the ads, with people calling them "bullying" and cruel, but the group hasn't launched an investigation yet. Match.com responded with the following statement:

We have taken note of the response about our advert concerning freckles. Following this feedback, we are in discussions with our relevant partners about removing these posters as soon as possible. We believe freckles are beautiful. The intention of our "Love Your Imperfections" campaign is to focus on the quirks and idiosyncrasies that people wrongly perceive to be imperfections—this can include freckles, a feature that is sometimes seen as an imperfection by people who have them. We're sorry if this ad has been interpreted in a different way and we apologize for any offense caused, this was not our intention. Our overall campaign is all about celebrating perceived physical and behavioral imperfections, from having freckles to being chubby, messy or clumsy. The adverts are designed to encourage everyone to be proud of their individuality, as the features that make us unique are often the ones that make us most attractive.

The bottom line is this:  Freckles, "chubbiness," and a tendency to leave socks all over the house are what make you awesome, not what make you "imperfect." There's no such thing as perfect, anyway, no matter what a subway ad might imply.

Water, Detoxing, and Potatoes: Audrey Hepburn's Biggest Beauty Secrets

Audrey Hepburn's son Luca Dotti, shared everything you ever wanted to know about the Hollywood starlet and beauty icon in an extremely intimate interview with Yahoo Health.

Dotti spoke to Yahoo Health about his new cookbook, a tribute to his mother titled Audrey at Home. Highlights from the interview include a look at Hepburn's favorite healthy foods, her enviable positive outlook on life, and her biggest beauty secret (you've heard it before, lots of water).

1. Hydration is key.

"She insisted so much on everybody … drinking a lot of water. And that really, today, is so important for the support of everything. She was really about drinking a lot of water and eating a lot of vegetables. It was a matter of how she was brought up."

2. She had a "detox" day, during which she would eat fruits, vegetables, and yogurt and guzzle water.

"She did it once a month, but usually to get over a jet lag, because you feel bloated after many hours sitting on a plane…Like a lot of people, she was coming back from trips in Africa and was exhausted—this would help with that."

3. Potatoes were her bread and butter.

"Sometimes we tend to forget, she was Dutch, so potatoes were a big, big part of her diet…[And] her father was Irish. Potatoes for her, they were a sustainable thing."

4. Her zest for life kept her young.
"She had more than a positive outlook. She was naïve in the sense that she was like a young girl. Every time that she found something new, or went to a market, or got a new recipe, she wasn't blasé. She was so excited, like a little girl. She took life by the day...she never sounded panicked by the idea of being sick. She was more worried about others, about us, about the kids…my mother, she was really interested in living the day. She was very interested in life. Even when she was in bed, she was saying oh, when I get better, we have to go to Australia. It's beautiful there."

How to Spring Clean Your Beauty Products

Spring cleaning isn't just about vacuuming an entire year's worth of breadcrumbs from your car or finally finding out what's been hiding under your couch cushions. It's also a time to finally sort out the clutter that's accumulated into a precarious pyramid in your bathroom. (How did we even end up with four open, half-used bottles of shampoo in the shower in the first place?)

To make sure your bathroom no longer resembles a beauty-product-filled junkyard and more like, you know, a bathroom, try these simple steps to make sorting out the mess a little more manageable.
1 Give your beauty products a check-up.

You've probably been told that, like food, beauty products have a shelf life. But because we're not eating them, sometimes we forget. And it's so hard to part with that blue mascara you impulse-bought two years ago—what if you'll actually need it someday?

Seriously through, the key to decluttering any room is throwing out what you realistically don't need. And if you've only worn that blue mascara once in the entire time you've had it, you can probably live without it.

Still can't let go? Blogger Kyla Rae McCabe breaks down how she does it here.

2 Combine products into one container.

Well hello, four open, half-used bottles of shampoo. The time has come to combine them into one bottle. That way you don't have to choose between moisturizing, volume-building, and frizz-fighting.

This tip can also work with products like moisturizers or body washes. You just have to be careful to avoid combining products with ingredients that don't react well with each other, like retinol and alpha hydroxy acids.

3 Use a Tic Tac container to store bobby pins.

Isn't it annoying how easy it is to go from having 100 bobby pins to having none? Even more annoying is when they pop up in random spots all over your house (the dishwasher? Seriously?) when you don't need them.

Instead of tossing your empty Tic Tac containers into the recycling bin, try repurposing them into an easy place to store your bobby pins. To add extra prettiness, decorate them with Washi Tape with blogger Laura Trevey's easy instructions.

Woman Are Getting Sandal-Ready Feet with a Cult Beauty Product Called "Baby Foot"

Sandal season is here, which also means it's time to bare those cracked, dry, and callus-loaded soles—yikes! But now there's one beauty product that is claiming to repair and transform rough, dry, and cracked soles—and it's getting a lot of hype.

Called Baby Foot, the Korean foot peel product is basically two plastic booties lined with gel. After soaking your feet in the gel for one hour and then rinsing off, the product causes dry skin to peel away three to seven days later. The gel contains alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), or fruit acids like latic, glycolic, and citric acids, that break down layers of dead skin and the cell structures that hold the dead skin together, according to Prevention.

It's become hugely popular since being introduced to the United States in 2012, and people can't stop sharing their foot peeling photos and videos online:

While the before and after images are pretty convincing, we couldn't help but wonder—is it too good to be true? And is it safe?

"I have patients who swear by Baby Foot—it does work," Dr. Debra Jaliman, MD, a dermatologist at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, told Prevention. "It basically acts as a very strong exfoliant."

But before you try it, dermatologists have a few warnings: You shouldn't use Baby Foot if you have any kind of open sore or even a small cut on your foot, since the AHAs will get in there and cause some very intense pain (not to mention put you at risk for a skin infection). You also shouldn't try it if you have sensitive skin or eczema, and you should definitely avoid it if you're diabetic because you could have nerve damage that prevents you from feeling burning sensations.

Baby Foot is available online, but if you're looking for another option that perhaps sounds less intense—because we all know the worst way to style a sandal is with a crusty sole—you can try exfoliators like the Diamancel Foot Buffer, or the Emjoi Micro-Pedi Callus
Remover.

7 Cool New Eyeliner Trends You Need to Try RN

This article was created in partnership with COVERGIRL.

Doing the same eyeliner every day can be seriously boring – but mixing it up is seriously intimidating, right? Don't worry! From trendy graphic lines to fun colorful winged looks, I'm sharing my secrets and tips on how to turn up the glam on those eyes. Keep reading!

Puppy Liner

This adorable look gained popularity in Korean Beauty circles first, and I totally love it. It is, really, the exact opposite of winged liner and just so happens to be seriously trending at the moment. To get it, grab your favorite eyeliner pen and extend the line DOWN (instead of winging it up like you typically would). I like COVERGIRL's Intensify Me! Liquid Eyeliner because you can rotate the applicator tip to achieve the perfect arch.

Bright Waterline
If you want to implement a brilliant, funky eyeliner into your daily makeup routine without going too over the top, try adding a little color to your waterline. From purple to pink to blue to bronze, any color will look fab — the more vibrant the shade the better! The goal is simply to make your gaze stand out. I love using COVERGIRL's Ink It! By Perfect Point Plus because the colors are fun and the creamy gel formula is super easy to apply.

Smoky Line

The easiest way to take your liner to a smoldering level: add a wash of black eyeshadow directly above your liner on the top lid. Your gaze is instantly flirty. Use a flat smudge brush to apply the shadow directly on top of your eyeliner to lend those eyes a pretty sultry twinkle that's ideal for date night with bae.

Bright, Poppy Liner
Take this gaze out to a spring music festival or a day party with friends. To get the look, line your top lid with a colorful liner first, then follow just below the color with a thin black line. Applying the black liner after the color helps you control the thickness of that dark accent – and if your hands are a little shaky, applying the color first will minimize the risk of smudging the black liner. These crispy lines really create dimension and totally make your eyes pop! Here, I used COVERGIRL's Ink It! in Aquamarine and COVERGIRL'S Intensify Me! in Black.

Graphic Lines
A fun, graphic liner that creates a geometric accent on your eyes is totally wearable. The trick lies in how you apply it. Reach for an eyeliner pen that is super precise, like COVERGIRL's Intensify Me! Liquid Eyeliner. Next, draw a standard winged liner, then another line along the base of your lower lash line. When you're done, you'll have 2 lines with some negative space in between. Be prepared for the compliments to pour in!

Colorful Wings
Confession: I wear winged liner almost every single day. And as much as I love a good cat eye, using black all the time can be a bit boring. Spice things up by adding a stroke of color to your beloved wing. Pick an eyeliner pencil in a bold hue (like this one, COVERGIRL's Ink It! in Aquamarine Ink) to create this look. And here's an expert tip: If you slip-up while drawing, it's no biggie! Saturate a Q-tip with makeup remover, then return to your lid to sharpen up that line.

Bright, Balanced Liner

If you're looking for a fab, quick, and easy trick to accentuate that gorgeous gaze of yours with a pop of color, this is just the thing. Grab COVERGIRL's Ink It! liner in a shade like Violet and slowly trace the perimeter of your top and bottom lash lines. I love this particular hue because it helps to bring out my eyes, but experiment with colors to see what works best for you.

Not sure what shade liner best suits you? Read this.

How to Get Rid of Bra Bulge

The fatty deposits that bulge out around your bra straps and make strapless dresses a hard sell aren't in your imagination—for most of us, they're a very real part of being a woman, and they're inspiring a variety of new treatment options for those looking to enjoy a smooth silhouette without wearing full body Spanx. We caught up with the bra fat experts to learn what can be done to tone up this tricky area.

1) Liposuction may still be the only real guarantee. "It's often a hereditary distribution of fat, and it doesn't matter how skinny someone is— anyone can have it," explains Dr. Richard Swift, a board certified plastic surgeon in New York City. "Liposuction has been the gold standard of treatment for this area, with the tumescent variety being the best option since the area really requires a lot of finesse." Tumescent liposuction is when a doctor adds fluid to a patient's fatty areas first to sort of 'puff up' the trouble spots, and then uses the most precise technique possible to suction out the fat. The fat cells are then disposed and can never return to the area they were suctioned from. According to surgery.org, about 400,000 liposuction procedures were performed in the U.S. last year alone, and several thousand of those were to eliminate dreaded bra fat bulges.

2) But there are injectable options, too. For the anti-surgery types out there, Dr. Swift says he's had success with Kybella, a relatively new injectable designed to break up and destroy fat cells. "Kybella is deoxycollic acid and when it's injected into fatty tissue, a chemical reaction occurs and it dissolves the fat. The ideal candidates for this procedure are those who can pinch and feel some fat in the area to be treated. Patients with excessive skin laxity are not ideal candidates for Kybella because the skin will not contract, but the main advantage of Kybella is that it is minimally-invasive and consists of a series of injections." While it's not quite as precise or thorough as tumescent liposuction, Dr. Swift says he's seen success with breaking up fatty deposits. It's currently only FDA-approved for the chin area, but that will likely change as demand increases. Each treatment costs $1,200 to $1,500, and patients should expect treat an area up to 6 times for full results.

3) Change your focus at the gym. "In order to avoid unsightly bra fat spillage, you will want to concentrate on toning the largest muscle of the back—the Latissiumus Dorsi, also known as your 'lats,'" shares fitness expert and trainer Nadia Murdock. "Other muscle groups that you should work are the Serratus Anterior (wings) found on the side of the body. It is important to remember that there is no miracle move to banish back fat overnight. However, with consistent toning exercises coupled with a proper diet and cardio, you will definitely see a change." Murdock suggests pull-downs on the cable machine, cable rows and bent-over rows. Basically, if you hate your bra fat, you should be rowing yourself to freedom.

4) A new non-invasive treatment called SculpSure may be able to kill those fat cells. While SculpSure is non-surgical and boasts no downtime, it still is only available in dermatology and plastic surgery offices right now and may take up to 12 weeks to show visible results. According to Dr. Arash Akhavan, a cosmetic dermatologist at The Dermatology & Laser Group in New York, "the fat cells are destroyed by the laser and the fat leaks out of the cells and goes into our lymphatics. The fat particles are then processed in our liver and excreted from our bodies as waste." Small, heated pads are placed on fatty deposits and go to work heating fat cells beyond the point of repair for 25 minutes per treatment. "One of the reasons SculpSure is such a huge hit with our patients is that there is truly no downtime following a procedure. After a treatment, most patients don't experience any after effects, and a minority have at most minor soreness for a day or two. We don't restrict our patients' activities in any way. Patients can start to see a loss of fat and positive body contouring effects starting six weeks after treatment, with a completion of the process by 12 weeks post-therapy." SculpSure is said to destroy about 24% of the fat cells it treats, giving patients a somewhat noticeably smoother silhouette after just one or two treatments.

5) A lifestyle change is key. There are a variety of massage techniques and other lasers widely marketed at spas, weight loss centers and even some doctors' offices that promise to shrink fat cells versus destroying them, but by and large, you're being sold snake oil with these 'wonder machines.' Since we all have a set number of fat cells in our body, permanent and long-term bulge fighting depends on either completely changing our lifestyles (you guessed it— clean eating and exercise!), or eliminating the fat cells altogether. While fat cells can drain to some degree, they can and will fill right back up the next time you decide to slack on your healthy diet. Cheeseburgers, as it seems, will forever be the enemy.

There's a New Beauty Treatment for Dating App Fatigue

Imagine this scary scenario: You've spent so much time on dating apps swiping left and right, super-liking and exchanging witty banter that by the time you go to meet your future Tinder husband, you've lost all feeling in the pads of your fingers and your hands are so weak they can barely hold up your wine glass. It won't matter if you have a blowout and those Levi's jeans that make your ass look great, he'll take one look at your fatigued mitts and know what you've been up to.

Luckily, finally, there's a solution to this very millennial problem: The Swipe Right Hand Massage, a 30-minute massage-and-exfoliation treatment being offered at Bliss Spas in NYC and Hoboken. "With the onslaught of dating apps, the additional 'swiping right' can take its toll," explains Bliss massage therapist Laura Ann Conroy. "Overuse can lead to injury that may result in pain or discomfort in the hand, wrist or arm." At $80, the service isn't cheap, but sometimes you have to do what it takes to stay in the game. Or you could always just move to Denver—we hear the ratio of single men to women is high, and the air is a lot cleaner.

5 Exercises to Beat Belly Jiggle in 5 Minutes

If you want to define your waist and strengthen your core, you'll need more than straight sit-ups to make a measurable difference.

To feel firmer in five minutes, try this quick fix from NYC-based certified fitness trainer Chris Sams, modeled by Instagram star Yovanna Ventura. For each exercise, do as many reps as you can in 30 to 60 seconds, switching sides when necessary halfway through. Then then move onto the next exercise.

Yovanna is wearing a Purple Patterned Sports Bra, TEREZ, $45; Purple Patterned Leggings, TEREZ, $75; Pink and White Sneakers, NIKE (Available at Foot Locker), $99.

1. Thread the Needle

How to do it:  Get into plank position with your shoulders stacked over your wrists and your body in a straight line between the top of your head and your heels. Keeping your hips squared to the ground, bring your right knee to your right elbow. Next, extend the right leg across your body and under your left leg. Bring the right knee back to the right elbow to complete one rep.

2. Forearm Plank Swimmers

How to do it: Get into a forearm plank with your shoulders stacked over your elbows and palms pressed against the ground. Extend your right arm straight out in front of you, then open it out to the side before returning to plank position. Repeat on the opposite side and continue to alternate sides.

3. Leg Crossovers
How to do it: Lie face-up on a mat with your palms pressed against the ground beneath your hips for support and legs extended. Keeping your lower back against the ground, lift both legs about a foot off the ground. Keeping the legs as straight as possible, cross the left ankle over the right one. Then reverse, crossing the right ankle over the left one.

4. Side Plank With Twist

How to do it: Get into a side plank position on a mat with your left forearm on the floor, left fingertips facing the right side of your mat. Your shoulders, hips, and feet should be stacked, but

you can stagger your feet to make this move easier. Without dropping your hips, use your right arm to reach underneath the body. Next, open the chest and reach your right arm straight up overhead. That's one rep.

5. Russian Twists

How to do it: Grab a 5- to 10-pound dumbbell in both hands and hold it at chest level. Sit on your butt with bent knees and crossed ankles. Lean backward slightly to lift both feet off the ground. Keeping your shoulders away from your ears, twist from the waist to turn your upper body to the left. Repeat on the opposite side and continue to alternate without dropping your feet.

This New Sports Bra Has a Self-Defense Feature Built Into It

Last spring, mother of two Jennifer Cutrona was randomly attacked by a man lurking along the wooded path where she was running, according to Fox59. Like most women who run alone, she was completely unarmed — and felt lucky AF to get away from the perp in one piece.

The next day, Cutrona sewed a sheath into her sports bra so she could carry a knife whenever she hits the trails alone.
Now she's patented her design (as seen above) and gone into production selling supportive sports bras that allow you to safely secure a small knife or a pocket-size pepper spray to your body and make it easily accessible for an effective defense. Just In Case Knife Bras, ($54.99 plus $12.99 for the knife), and Just In Case Pepper Spray Bras ($49.99 plus $11.99 for the pepper gel) are now available at BoobyTrapBras.com.

Just In Case Knife Bra, $54.99

Just in Case Pepper Spray Bra, $49.99

While it's preeeetty ridiculous that women who run have to protect themselves from anything besides a running injury — damn you, shin splits! — the sad truth is that you really can't call this bra line a bad idea. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Why a Pro Runner Is Sharing Photos of Her Post-Baby Tummy

Stephanie Rothstein Bruce is a 32-year-old pro runner from Arizona who's currently training for the Olympics. She's also the mom of a 21-month-old and a 6-month-old, and photos of her post-baby tummy are currently going super viral, because they really illustrate the changes her fit body went through after giving birth.

"I can run 5:20 pace for a half marathon, but I still pee my pants, have diastasis recti, stretch marks, and other postpartum issues," Bruce told SELF. "I share [my story] so moms and soon-to-be moms know you can still get back to your athletic self, have big goals, be a mom, have imperfections, don't be embarrassed by them, and have confidence in yourself."

She's also sharing photos to appeal directly to fellow runners who may feel like they have to give up their career in order to have kids. "Coming back from pregnancy has been extremely humbling, embarrassing at times, but extremely rewarding," Bruce wrote. "Not many women I raced today were pumping breast milk pre-race. But it can be done. I hope more pro runner ladies don't wait for their careers to end to have babies. I hope runner mamas everywhere find belief and strength and humor in their post baby comeback."

The 1 Food You Should Be Eating to Make Your Workout Worth It

Today in facts that will actually make you want to MARRY science (😍💘😘), research recently brought to light by The New York Times suggests that a daily dose of dark chocolate can make exercise even more effective.

In a small-but-thorough study, researchers from England's Kingston University tested eight male cyclists before and after swapping regular snacks for about one and a half squares of either dark or white chocolate every day for two weeks. Although they made no other changes to their diets and training routines, the riders in the dark chocolate group performed notably better on their second fitness tests than they did on the first time around, sprinting faster and with improved stamina — benefits the white chocolate group didn't experience.

While the researchers didn't look into why, their hunch is that unlike white chocolate, dark chocolate is a solid source of epicatechin, a naturally-occurring substance found in cocoa. The stuff is known to improve blood flow, cardiac functioning, and energy metabolism in the muscles, which help you bring your best game and keep it up for longer before conking out.

Granted, the study was small and done on male cyclists, so more research is needed to double-check the effects on women and also suss out ideal serving sizes. But science can be sort of slow — it took years for researchers to test this whole chocolate thing on humans after animal tests proved promising. Until more info rolls in, go ahead and swap your go-to treats for dark chocolate, like Dove brand, which is the kind used in the study due to higher-than-average amounts of epicatechin. The lead researcher told The New York Times that recreational athletes are likely to benefit from it.

Unfortunately for people who love chocolate more than science, a couple of squares is probably the upper limit — at least when it comes to improving your athletic prowess. (Still, chocolate FTW!)

The Scary Thing That Can Happen When You Drink Coffee Before You Want to Get Pregnant

For anyone who wants kids one day and basically lives for caffeine (so you, plus everyone you know), a new study suggests that men and women who drink more than two daily cups of caffeinated coffee (or another bev that gives you wings) in the weeks leading up to conception are more likely to miscarry.

In the study, which was recently published in the journal Fertility and Sterility, researchers examined the lifestyle habits of 501 Texas and Michigan couples who were trying to get pregnant. By the end of the study, 347 couples were successful — but 98 of them miscarried.

Women who were 35 or older were more likely to miscarry, which is to be expected considering experts have long known that older moms are more prone to complications during pregnancy. But some other data points took the researchers by surprise: Women and men who drank the most caffeine around the time of conception were more likely to miscarry.

The researchers didn't look into how caffeine might affect a pregnancy before a baby is even conceived, and existing research on caffeine consumption in the earliest weeks of pregnancy doesn't exactly fill in the blanks, according to study authors. (It's hard to tell whether women with healthy pregnancies and related symptoms, like nausea and food aversions, naturally veer away from caffeinated beverages before they realize, "Hey, I'm pregnant!" and that could skew study results.) The one thing that's for certain is excessive caffeine consumption by either partner around the time of conception could affect pregnancy outcomes. This marks a brand new thing to worry about on top of all the other things men should do to increase the odds of a healthy pregnancy — and the same goes for women, who have their own laundry list of ways to prep their bodies for a baby.

In light of the findings, the study authors recommend limiting caffeinated intake to fewer than three caffeinated daily beverages for men and women who are trying to conceive. Another smart piece of advice: Take a multivitamin. Women in the study who popped these pills were 55 percent less likely to miscarry than women who did not. Considering it's a habit that benefits your health even before babies enter the picture, it's the least you can do — and it doesn't mess with your caffeine buzz in the slightest.

How Sports Illustrated Model Robyn Lawley Eats and Exercises in a Day

When juggling busy careers and lives, it's not always easy to find the time to hit the gym or prepare a healthy meal. For inspiration, ELLE is asking influential women in a variety of fields to share a typical day of eats and fitness, to see just how they balance a healthy lifestyle with their jam-packed schedules. Robyn Lawley — who made headlines in 2015 as Sports Illustrated's first-ever plus-sized model and was featured again this year (shot only six months after giving birth!) — juggles modeling, motherhood, and running her own namesake swimwear line. The body-positivity icon travels often but when home, takes time to fill her day with healthy, easy-to-replicate meals made with ingredients she grows herself. Here, a day in her life.

My days tend to be a bit chaotic, and then I'll suddenly be back home and have a 180-degree  switch in duties — from going to events and modeling couture to changing diapers and gardening. I find peace and solace in being home [in Los Angeles]. It's a holiday every time I'm here, even with house cleaning, etc., because I'm surrounded by forests and mountains. It's such a beautiful and Zen environment, which is something I yearned for after living in Manhattan for five years.

When I am at home, I cook my own food. I get so tired of hotel food after having to eat it so often when I am on the road traveling for jobs. When I cook, I choose good, local ingredients and pick from my own vegetable garden.

For breakfast, I love eggs on toast. I tend to jazz mine up a bit with chopped red onion, garlic, cherry tomatoes, cilantro, and kale from my garden. For two people, I use four eggs. You can whisk the eggs with a dash of milk, or you can opt out of milk, I also put some double Brie cheese in mine and I cook with a French butter to crisp up the onion a little. I get my bread from Gjusta in Venice, and I thick slice it myself and freeze it so I can have good toast even if I can't get there daily.

I also love my morning coffee. I get cold brew lattes from my local markets at Locomotive Cafe, then other days, I love a Blue Bottle latte or New Orleans ice coffee. I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to coffee but most Australians are.

Today I had my man shoot new digitals for me. Just like actors go to castings to get a new gig, models are pretty much cast for every job, and most big clients can request new digitals, which are just raw current images. On average, I do them once a week. I prefer getting it done in the morning during my baby [Ripley]'s nap after breakfast.

When I'm in L.A., I always try to see my kickboxing trainer, Jason Zickerman at Box N Burn in Santa Monica. They also do great classes! It's been a great break from tedious gym workouts which, unfortunately, just don't cheer me up or motivate me as much. Learning the skills required for kickboxing makes it exciting and challenging. We usually do about nine to 10 three-minute rounds, with a long stretch afterward.

I also interval train when I'm in Australia with my trainer Penny Walsh, who's the only person I'll go to the gym for besides my best friend Jess Dally Butler. I recently saw her do her first pull-ups and now I want to reach that level, so I've begun weight training. Weight training is amazing for building muscle, which in turn is "toning." I also jump rope, which is cheap and easy to take with you on trips.

After breakfast, we might have a morning smoothie in which I use frozen banana mixed with either coconut water, milk, or nut milk. I also add kale from our garden or baby spinach, then I add frozen strawberries and blend for a tasty green smoothie, which Ripley loves.

I love making hearty salads as I find most salads at places like hotels and traditional cafes really boring. When produce is as rich as it is now, I want as much vegetables, nuts, and fruits as I can get in my salads. I typically just use olive oil and balsamic vinegar, but I also love mixing whole grain mustard, olive oil, vinegar, and lemon together in a jar to use as salad dressing. Another important tip is to massage the olive oil into the kale to make it more tender and take the stalks out.

In my typical salads, I include vegetables like red onions, kale, baby spinach, radishes, carrot, peppers, butterhead lettuce, and fruit like avocados, pineapple, mango, or apple. I also add sunflower seeds or smashed almonds. If I want a heartier salad, I include boiled eggs and maybe tuna.

I love going for evening hikes in Los Angeles when the sun is setting. We take turns carrying Ripley which is easier than using a stroller on a hike.

Ratatouille is one of my specialties and my favorite dishes! It's a hearty meal full of fresh vegetables. Again, the produce is rich this time of year, so all the vegetables taste the best. Since I feed my daughter what I eat, I try to make our meals rich in nutrients. I don't separate her food and because of that, she eats anything I give her. My ratatouille consists of: two large eggplants, two brown onions, three different-colored bell peppers, six to eight medium zucchinis, and four large tomatoes. The next day, it even tastes better! Tomorrow, I will either mix the leftovers in with my eggs for breakfast or save it for lunch.

Over 100 People Are Suing Old Spice for Causing Chemical Burns

For years, consumers have complained online that Old Spice's scented brands of deodorant made them break out in painful rashes. One particularly aggrieved Old Spice user (a Virginia resident named Rodney Colley) spearheaded a class-action lawsuit against the brand that was officially filed March 11.

The suit claims over 100 people have been adversely affected by Proctor & Gamble's products and seeks up to $5 million in damages. You can browse horrifying images of their reactions here. The fallout from the product has afflicted both men and women alike. After coming into contact with an Old Spice deodorant, one gal claimed she had to visit an emergency room, where doctors told her she had a legitimate chemical burn.

Proctor & Gamble has kept relatively mum on the issue, mincing its words to convey it's still reviewing the case's particular claims (read: legitimacy) while reassuring the public the deodorant line is still totally safe.

This isn't the first time Proctor & Gamble's come under fire for — literally — getting under customers' skins. Back in 2010, angry moms and dads were convinced the company's Dry Max brand of diapers was giving their babies severe rashes "and other skin irritations." Much like the current complaints that the deodorants are the root cause of chemical burns, spokespeople for the company waved off the claims as "completely false rumors fueled by social media."

TBD how this class-action suit pans out. For now, warn your guy about the potential risks of these "Man Fresheners" and maybe avoid cuddling with him if you find any Old Spice products in his bathroom.

5 Signs Your Allergy Symptoms Are a Sign of Something Much Worse

When it's spring, you might be inclined to write off that congestion, coughing, and sneezing as "allergies" rather than admit that you're sick. While an estimated 50 million Americans suffer from Real Seasonal Allergies, it's notoriously difficult to figure out what actually triggers certain symptoms.

Pull the ol' allergy card, and you could end up ignoring a more serious diagnosis — and deter yourself from getting to the bottom of it ASAP. (It doesn't help that untreated allergies can trigger chronic sinus infections, ear infections, sleep issues, and asthma — which makes treatment even more complicated.)

"The treatment for allergies is so different from the treatment for the flu or a cold," says Beth E. Corn, MD, associate professor of clinical immunology at the Allergy and Immunology department of Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and spokesperson for the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. If you treat a viral infection with antihistamines (the go-to remedy for allergies), you subject yourself to side effects such as loopiness when all you really need is cough syrup and lots of liquids, Dr. Corn explains.

"The quicker you find out what it is, the sooner you can make interventions to feel better," Dr. Corn promises. So look out for the signs your symptoms aren't allergies, but an actual, potentially contagious illness like a sinus infection, cold, or the flu.

5 Signs Your Symptoms Aren't Caused by Allergies

1. Your snot is green. It's not pretty, and it's a sign of infection.

2. You have a fever. Hot flashes and chills are symptoms that are never linked to allergies.

3. You feel pain in your cheeks. While allergies can trigger sinus pressure around the eyes and temples, pain that extends through the cheeks and even to the teeth can signal inflammatory build-up that's common in sinus infections — not allergies. And that could require antibiotics to clear up.

4. You have a cough ... but that's not all. "You have to look at the constellation of symptoms because it's very hard to differentiate between an allergic cough and one caused by post-nasal drip related to a virus," Dr. Corn explains. So a cough, plus anything else on this list = something more serious than allergies.

5. Congestion + bad breath.  Terrible congestion is the hallmark of seasonal allergies, but it can occur for a host of reasons. When paired with smelly breath or a foul taste in the mouth, it's probably a sign of infection.

If you think you're sick (aka it's not allergies): See your doctor to rule out an infection that requires antibiotics (or get a prescription), strep, and the flu.

4 Signs Your Symptoms Are Caused by Allergies

1. You have a combo of nasal congestion, a scratchy throat, a runny nose, pressure around your eyes, and itchy ears and eyes. Looks like allergies, smells would smell like allergies too, if you weren't too stuffed up to smell.

2. Your symptoms last more than two weeks. If your nose runs on and on, with a scratchy throat and lots of congestion that gets no worse, but no better, it's probably just allergies.

3. Your snot is yellow or clear. Even with pale yellow snot, you're OK.

4. You're fine the rest of the year. Asthmatic coughing and wheezing that starts up juuust about the same time as the flowers bloom — in April, May, or June — is an unlikely coincidence. *Puts money on allergies.*

5. If you do think you have allergies: Consider taking an OTC antihistamine, or better yet, see an allergist who can tell you exactly what to take and whether you could benefit from a nasal steroid or a nasal spray. And feel better!

Black-out tattoos officially exist in the world and they look hella painful

There's a new tattoo trend in town which takes both major dedication and one hell of a strong pain threshold. It's being dubbed 'blackout ink' and it looks seriously painful.

The trend sees tattoo-lovers covering up whole areas of their body in full on blacked-out ink.

Pretty handy if you want to cover up a particularly disastrous tatt.
Artist Chester Lee of Oracle Tattoo shop in Singapore has been specialising in the method for about five years. Lee told Cosmopolitan.com that although some people use the method to cover up old tattoos - others are using the blackout ink as a negative space effect, to show off white tattoos or uninked skin more dramatically.

Don't know about you, but we think it looks PAINFUL. Monami, you're a stronger woman than us.

'T-Rex hands' is the new instagram craze you're probably already guilty of doing

First came 'squinching', then it was all about the 'fish gape' pout but now there's a new pose to master on instagram and it's being dubbed: 'T-Rex hands.'

Sounds weird, but stay with us.

Everyone from Kylie Jenner to Jourdan Dunn are guilty of doing it, and it basically solves that awkward 'what should I do with my other hand' when taking a selfie.
Although it seems like every celeb on instagram has already mastered the art of the claw pose - it was actually beauty blogger Queen, Huda Kattan who first officially gave 'T-Rex hands' its name.
"If you zoom out and you do it to both hands, you look like kind of like a T-Rex" Huda said in a Youtube vlog.
She's right, it really does make your hands look a bit dinosaur claw-ish. That, or we reckon it should've been called the 'Chandler Bing claw'.
Better be getting that manicure on fleek.

Here's what *actually* happens to your skin when you pop a spot

It's something we know we probably shouldn't be doing, but we're all guilty of it anyway: popping our spots.

But no matter how satisfying it feels to squeeze all that gunk outta your skin, popping your pimples really could be actually doing way more harm than good.

It turns out that whilst you might think you're getting out all the bad stuff, when you squeeze a pimple you're actually forcing more sebum, dead skin cells and bacteria under the layers of the skin - which could lead to even worse breakouts and infections.

Oh gahd.

Michelle Rodrigues, Consultant Dermatologist told The Conversation:

'A pimple is like a little bag under the skin that contains oil, bacteria, and inflammation. Squeezing it can result in these contents being pushed into surrounding skin, making the problem worse. It can also lead to infection and temporary darkening of the skin in that area.

On top of this, the inflammation can become so bad that scarring is left behind when the pimple finally settles down. And scarring (unlike the pimple) can be permanent.'

Yikes.

So what should you do when you wake up with a massive pimple on your chin? Well Michelle recommends leaving your spots to heal on their own, saying that if you resist the urge to squeeze, then most zits will resolve themselves over a week or so. No scars or crusty-looking scabs in sight.
